Michael Rodriguez was 20 years old. Marc Vidaurri was 35. Both East Chicago men are dead after a shooting outside OJ's GameOver bar early Sunday, Nov. 1, that sent 32 rounds tearing through a residential neighborhood.

The Lake County Coroner's Office identified the two victims on Monday, Nov. 2, according to ABC7 Chicago. Police said both men were shot to death. No arrests have been made.

East Chicago officers responded around 1:48 a.m. Sunday after the city's ShotSpotter gunfire-detection system picked up shots near 716 W. 151st St., according to the Region News Source. The system registered 17 rounds, then another 15 seconds later.

Officers found both men on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Semiautomatic handguns were found next to both victims. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to St. Catherine Hospital, where he died.

Bullet holes could be seen in the windows of vehicles and homes in the area, ABC7 reported.

Audrey DeAvila, a woman who lives behind the bar, told ABC7 she heard the shots and ran outside to help before police arrived. She and another woman tried to save one of the victims.

"Me and his girlfriend were trying to stop the blood, try to apply pressure. We tried CPR. We tried, and that poor baby. He was so young," DeAvila said.

She described praying over one of the men as he lay dying.

"It was uncalled for, it was unnecessary and it was so wasteful. So wasteful. Two lives, are you serious? For what?" DeAvila said.

East Chicago Police Chief Jose Rivera said the shooting endangered the surrounding neighborhood.

"No respect was given. That's a residential area. Several vehicles. Several homes," Rivera said, according to ABC7.

The motive remains unclear, police said. The Joint Agency Homicide Task Force is investigating, with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Investigation Division, the Lake County Coroner's Office and East Chicago police detectives, according to WGN-TV.

The NWI Times reported that the shooting has prompted nearby residents to call for the bar to be shut down. Details of any official response to those demands were not available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the East Chicago Police Department tip line at 219-391-8500. Police are also asking residents to review home surveillance video from the area and share anything that could help investigators.
